Turning Ideas into Action
January 13th, 2009Compassion Corps has been working the ground in Fairhaven Connecticut for two years evaluating the needs of our community. Our focus has been three fold. First, we have set out to develop relationships with our neighbors. Second, we have spent time cleaning up and beautifying the physical space of our neighborhood. And finally, we have advocated for change in the way local government cares for the inner-city. From planting trees to neighborhood block parties we have been busy serving our area and getting a feel for the needs of our neighbors. In light of the growing economic challenges the issue of food security (having enough food to eat) is growing exponentially in the inner-city. Compassion Corps is seeking to address this issue by opening the doors of a new mission – Fairhaven Food Pantry. Our goal: to build relationship with fifty at risk families in Fairhaven, CT and begin delivering healthy, staple food products to their front door. This concept will allow us to stay connected to the families in need while allowing us to evaluate others needs of the household. In addition to this initiative, we will be accepting blankets and winter coats to meet the additional needs of prostitutes and homeless in our city. With donations dwindling for many non-profits we are asking all of our friends to take a personal interest in helping us accomplish our goals. A $5, $10 or $15 monthly donation will make a huge difference in the lives of those at risk and in need of your help. Help us make a practical difference in the lives of those who are poor and suffering.
